Wiosna 2017 round 3

I finished another round on the Wiosna 2017. Thank you Renulek for a wonderful pattern. I can't wait to start on the next round.

I feel a sense of accomplishment. Badly needed this spring! That’s all I’ll say on that today. Must run and get started on finishing up projects!

Question in yellow....answer as you wish!

I like blogging. I think it’s because I can put thoughts and photos out there and people with like interests can comment.

Doesn’t work that way so much with the organ music sectors of my life. There’s a few places I visit regular on the internet. I’ve enjoyed some videos. Not just on Youtube, but on the AGO website. I like reading about these busy folks:

I especially like talking and listening to organists in my area. I’ve been here 2 years now. (Egads!) I’ve met quite a few. I hope to meet more. Now that I’ve finished a couple of big projects at the house, I’ll be getting out more in the area to document what organs are here.
I know some of you will have strong feelings about the next question. Those who comment here will likely be published. Those who tell me privately I may just publish in a post or two. Consider yourself warned. I will ask permission of course, but beware.

Question:
Start a new page on this blog showing what organs I’ve discovered here?
OR
Start a new blog and merge the organ stuff from this blog onto the organ blog?

I’ll be making a decision this summer. It’ll likely take me that long to amass the raw material for posts. Or find the camera and learn how to use it better!

Buxtehude inspires

Well, the sunrise did inspire. But then I had a “Dick Van Dyke” moment. The result: bunged up knee. Just soreness and a little scraping. And very red face! I’ll leave the slapshtic to someone else!
Force inactivity resulted in this:

Not sure if I’ll change a couple of things. I’ll be sitting down to play the piece and study my motif. If you’re interested in how it sounds, look up Prelude, Fugue and Chaconne in C by Buxtehude on YouTube.

of winter sunrise and sunset

Seems this winter is the winter of weather. Last winter I was unpacking/decorating; the winter before house hunting; the winter before that was spent making the transition to empty-nest. Perhaps next winter will be a “normal” winter? Yeah, right! This is the new normal girl! The rain has been welcome. We really haven’t had much damage. Just a little more of clean up chores. Grumpiness done!

The sunrises/sunsets have been wonderful again this year. It’s a great way to start your day. Color, transition from dark to light, and never the same way twice! I am always inspired by the sun rising. I am settled in for a great night with sunsets. Perhaps because I grew up in an area of the country where it rains….alot…., I notice the sunrises and sunsets more. When was the last time you paused for 15 minutes to watch one? BTW 15 minutes is usually how much time commercials take out of an hour long tv show. I think I can spend that much time enjoying nature. How ‘bout you?

I’m reorganizing the studio and study this week. Perhaps I’ll snap a photo. If I finish. I keep getting distracted with reading and jotting down ideas and remembrances. Time for another sunrise to inspire!

WIP done!

I’ve managed to finish a couple of larger projects! Very satisfying feeling. The only project I can really share with a picture is this:
Awareness Star of Hope by Kathy J. Hodge

For the pattern, visit the Class site: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2015/kathyhawarenessstarofhope.pdf

Several months ago at a Carmel Crafts Guild meeting, a fellow fiber enthusiast shared a bit of ribbon with me. Seems it's nylon or something synthetic. It had good tensile strength, wouldn’t tangle as I worked with it, so I asked for enough to work with for a tatting “something.” I can’t wait to see what she thinks of the finished piece. I haven't found much available from my favorite yarn sources. I hope to pick up more.

I’m continuing to play with the thread and beads that arrived last week.
And I’ve finished the second round of Renulek’s Winosa 2017. I hope I can finish this by Fair 2018.

It's Mother Nature's fault

Cimbidium peeking through the weeds
Well, I didn’t stay on that task. But, I did accomplish a bit; more on that later.
Here’s what Mother Nature accomplished in our side yard.

I can see these through the dining window. The kitchen also has a view. I like sitting in the dining room better though. Too bad this is a desktop and not a laptop. Or, perhaps I’ll organize my time better. I’ve several projects that need just a bit more time to finish. I’ll be enjoying the flowers as I do that today. Honest!

Half-done

Ever have one of those moments when you blink and realize you have a lot “half-done” in your life?

Now, that doesn’t usually bother me. I’m used to it taking a long time to finish the projects I start. I love baking bread. Even with a bread maker, it takes 4-5 hours. It usually takes me several days to mend a piece of clothing. I know sewing a button takes just a few minutes, but the procrastination phase is usually several days. It can take several days to learn a short piece of music. Elapse time is usually just an hour or so, but if I wish to be sure I can play it when I need to, I spread that over a few days. Weaving a length of cloth usually takes a few days. Tatting a snowflake can take a few days also.

So, what’s half done?

The foyer is half painted (water damage).

The tree is half dead (fell over in the storm).

The latest designs are half “sorted” (thread and beads are on their way).

I’ve still got time this week to get these things finished up.

Things are almost dry enough to finish painting. The arborist is coming today with a crane to take the tree down to the stump. Thread and beads for the designs should arrive today or tomorrow. Check back next week for pictures of what is completed….if I stay on task (guffaw, snort, chuckle).

Found objects and treasures

I slipped away to the beach last week for a walk. Here’s what I found:

I think some of these I will use the Ice Drop method. Some I may use the Button method. Some may just be pretty inspiration!

Our house continues to tell us stories. We’ll find evidence of past damage and repair, past remodel and additions, and see how the structure fits it to our lives. A hi-phalootin’ way to say, “This appeared on a post.”

This is what happens when the sun shines through the peep hole in the front door and hits a white surface. I couldn’t get the peep hole completely clean, too much pollen kicked up by the wind. If I closed the glass door between the front door and the post, the rainbow disappeared. Mmmmm Science rules!

With inspiration like this, you’d think I could turn out more desi….squirrel!

Which of the 4?

I enjoy tatting complicated patterns. I try to have a simple pattern going in my bag. Simple is better to show people what tatting is. So, I usually have multiple patterns going. Right now, there are 4. This is one of them:
Winosa 2017 Round 1
If you visit the website, you’ll see the complete doily. I know it will get complicated. I decided to add beads to round 2. Perhaps that will appear next week.

But…..

There’s still storm damage to take care of. I’m playing this weekend at the Mission. The foyer is drying out nicely, so the priming and painting will rise to the top of a long, long list. Oh, and the usual: grocery shopping, laundry, vacuuming, and all the rest.

Thank God there’s creative activities and walks on the beach.
