Corner.
Like many new tatters, I tackled edgings. I found patterns
that were easier to follow. Then, I tried to come up with my own edging pattern. I thought I would be clever and adapt a bookmark pattern I enjoyed
tatting. That worked until the corner.
Sometimes a browse through vintage books will solve the
problem. Sometimes you just gotta sample, sample, sample.
Kinda like practice, practice, practice.
Fortunately for the frame I’m working on, the pattern is
pretty easy to turn a corner with.

I remember trying that technique with crocheted edgings, long before I learned how to tat. Of course, crocheting is much easier to undo if the results aren't right. I haven't yet tried it with tatting. I've relied on patterns figured out by other tatters!
ReplyDeleteSample, sample is time consuming but effective.
ReplyDeletewow, love your edging - totally reminiscent of Nina Libin's works! I first came across this mirror method in Jon Yusoff's blog but have used it just once I think.
