I belong to a chapter of the EGA. Most of the projects are a bit beyond my stitching skill level. I try, but I don’t produce heirloom quality stitching. I started getting involved so that I could learn how to add tatting to more things. I’ve learned a lot.
This is a little sachet with Cross-stitch and Stem stitch. I
did my best, but I think I missed the mark. I didn’t get the chance to examine
what other people did close up. I hope to see more of them in the future.
I decided to tat
something “thistley” up to sew on the back. I kludged together a couple of
patterns. I think this hit the mark.

It’s lovely, I don’t think you missed the mark at all. No one produces heirloom pieces right away! Yes, your tatting will go well to enhance it.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a splendid job with the embroidery and the tatted lace is perfect. Do you need it to cover the embroidery stitches at the back or just as a two-sided interest?
ReplyDeleteThe project is designed to fold in half and enclose lavender for a sachet.
DeleteI am curious to see the final outcome. Can't get my head around the fact that the tatted lace will be hidden when this is folded. Thanks for the reply 🌺
DeleteI didn't explain that well. The embroidery will be on the front; the tatting will be on the back. I'll turn the piece inside out to sew the top seam (the fold will be on the bottom) and then after turning right sides out I'll whip the sides closed. I'll be using dried lavender flowers for a stuffing to make it up into a sachet....like tea inside a tea bag.
